A square garden

First of all I'd like to thank you for your visits and for your lovely comments. I am always amazed at the number of followers and comments on my blog posts.
@ Ann, I do have quite a list of Chatelaines purchased and started.

The first of the little square gardens of Herbularius' part 8 is stitched and beaded.

And here is a close-up.

DD is having a very good time in her room. She doesn't miss her daily trip by train to Groningen at all. And I am slowly getting used to the new situation too. Just as is Cleo.

Caught up!

I finished part 7 of Chatelaine's Herbularius yesterday evening! One day before the release of part 8 on the first of March. So I finally caught up on this project! Because Martina uploaded the new files a day earlier this time I continued stitching.

The azure squares are the outlines of the two gardens of part 8. I stitched them while I was watching an episode of the detective series Lewis on tv.

Herbularius part 5

Chatelaine's Herbularius part 5 is finished and beaded. Now I am going to finish the other half of part 7.

The little bird is also finished. DD has to decide whether she'd like to have it framed or turned into a small cushion.

Cleo seems to be a bit lost... I found her sleeping in the laundry basket!

IHSW update

Thank you very much for your comforting and complimentary comments. We will get used to the new situation, but it will take some time. Now and then it feels very lonely though.

I stitched some more of Herbularius during the IHSW.

On Sunday afternoon DD and I went to the Handwerkbeurs in Zwolle. We bought fabrics to make a rag-quilt cushion for in DD's room. And we bought the book 'Die Lustigen Zweibeiner' with all kinds of funny birds to stitch. Yesterday I started stitching one of the small ones; isn't it cute?!

Quiet

It has been quiet over here for some time. The reason is DD suddenly could rent a room in a student's residence in Groningen. So last weekend we have painted walls, bought some furniture and moved a lot of stuff. This week she moved out and now it is so quiet over here. But she will come home every Friday afternoon for the weekend, because she wants to keep horse riding in Zwolle. Well, I'll get used to it....

I did some stitching though. Here is an update of Herbularius part 5 and part 7. I hope to do some more of this parts during this IHSWeekend.

Cleo is missing DD too. She came to my attic room when she couldn't find DD anywhere in the house.

First part 7 corner

I couldn't resist stitching a corner of Herbularius part 7 before finishing part 5, just to see how it would look like.

Herbularius part 6

As you can see part 6 of Herbularius is finished now. For some reason I had to frog a lot of the golden scrollwork of this part. I started stitching part 5 yesterday afternoon, but it will be impossible to catch up, because part 7 will be released on Wednesday. Perhaps next month...

DD got good marks for all her preliminary exams of the first semester on university! This means she got a three week holiday during the period of the re-tentaminations.
Last week we went to the ice-sculptures show in the city. This year's theme was 'sea' and there were many beautiful images, like this big fish.

And a pirate with a wooden leg, a parrot and a treasure chest.

The hole in the terrace is fixed. The plumber replaced a part of the pipe and DH filled the hole with twelve pails of sand and replaced the tiles. Thanks for your comments and your concerns. And welcome to all my new followers.

Hermitting

I had a very productive hermit weekend and stitched a lot of Herbularius part 6. These are the arches on the left side, but I rotated the picture.

While I was stitching Casper decided it was time to do some proper cleaning.

The hole in the terrace is caused by a leakage in the underground part of the rain water pipe. Loads of sand have been flushed under the house and the hole turned out to be much bigger, something like four tiles. DH did some digging and decided he'd better call a plumber to resolve the problem. Thank you very much for your concern. It was a scary experience and I realize I could have been hurt badly!

IHSW January

This weekend is the first IHSWeekend of 2012. And already 156 hermitters did sign up!! For the list of participants (and to visit their blogs) you have to go to Joyce's blog 'Random Ramblings'. You still can subscribe there too.

This is what happened yesterday morning when I stepped outside to feed the birds in the backyard! Fortunately I didn't bruise or break anything. But it was a weird experience!

Now I am going to start my IHSW with a cup of coffee and Herbularius. My goal is to stitch a lot of part 6 this weekend.
Thanks for all your lovely commends. Have a wonderfull weekend!

Herbularius part 4

Today I added the beads to Chatelaine's Herbularius part 4. Part 5 and part 6 of this beauty are already waiting to be stitched. These parts are the arches and plants of the bottom and the left sides. The one on the picture is on the right side.

I also finished all part 10 blocks of the Civil War Chronicles quilt. Now I can start to assemble the whole centre part. After that I'll 'only' have to add a six inch (I guess) border of 32 blocks with a lot of triangles. The finished size of finished quilt will be 108" x 108"!

Huge!

One of the advantages of vacation is the opportunity to spread out all the parts of the Civil War Chronicles quilt on the floor of my practice room for some days. It is huge!! On the picture you can see the centre part and most of the blocks of the corner triangles.

Here is a close up of a corner. At the moment I am sewing all these parts together.

Thank you for your good wishes and kind comments on my first 2012 finish. And purrs from Cleo.

First 2012 finish

Yesterday evening I finished the last part of the BBD 'Anniversaries of the Heart' series, the bonus sampler. Now I have still to join the last four parts to a row and attach this row to the top part.

It is long since I showed a picture of Cleo. So here she is, enjoying life on DD's bed.

AotH Bonus Sampler

This is the last part of BBD 'Anniversaries of the Heart' series. My goal is to finish the stitching of this bonus sampler in December and assemble all the parts in January.

I also made tree blocks of the Civil War Chronicles quilt month 10. As you can see there are five more blocks waiting as stacks of patches.
